The cards are clearly dealt. If the home team USK wins, they will be promoted. They don't have to worry about the result of the simultaneous duel between Slavia and Pardubice. The promotion table shows that NH must not only win at Folimanka, but also hope for a Pardubice triumph at Slavia. And Ostrava has to win by at least 24 points more than Pardubice. In other words, mission impossible.
Of course, a win will count for both teams in the next phase of the season, so it's hard for NH to get away with anything. Both teams are relatively out of form, with Nova Huta (not counting the cup win over Novy Jicin) winning the KNBL after eight straight defeats and beating a weak Jindrichuv Hradec 87-68 a week ago. They have a new American guard, but for me this game at USK will come down to defence, and USK clearly have the better defence.
It's tempting to say that the young Czechs don't have much outside of Campbell, Schilb and, let's say, Svec, but Safarik, Vlk and the new pivot Gak could be there.
I expect some traditional refereeing help for the Folimanka team, but in short, Ostrava (even though they have Autrey and he can referee games by himself) will not have it easy.
I was surprised by the odds of around 1.75 for USK Prague to win. So I'll play a -1.5 handicap on USK for 2 units out of 5. Play up to a maximum of 1.57.
